How do I solve this math equation?

Please explain answer, I am dyslexic and I learn a little slower.

The function W(d)=112.d approximates the amount of water in cm that results from d cm of snow melting.Find the amount of water that results from melting from depts of 19cm.

Answer is 2.128 but how do I solve?
Please, let me rewrite the data.

W(d) = 0.112*d

d = 19cm.

W(19) = 0.112*19 = 2.128cm.

This reaction is a crossed or mixed Claisen condensation. This is not within my preferred types of examples. See examples here:

However, acetone is the more acidic component and will enolize most readily. If its concentration is kept low to discourage self-condensation, then that enolate can react with the ester to give a diketone after elimination of methoxide. Because of the diketone acidity, the methoxide will deprotonate the diketone. This will be the first product. Acidification is required to convert the enolate back to the diketone, 5-methylhexane-2,4-dione.

Acetone is quite reactive and susceptible to self-condensation. If you look at the examples shown in the linked web page, you will find that esters used with ketones are often quite reactive, such as ethyl formate.

Why is it difficult to operate Carnot Cycle?

As you will know, the Carnot cycle offers the highest possible thermal efficiency for any IC engine operating between two limiting temperatures. As such it is a tempting ideal! Its weakness is seen if the cycle is plotted, to scale, on P-V co-ordinates. This will show that a Carnot engine delivers a tiny power output (m.e.p.) for an acceptable maximum cycle pressure. In other words a Carnot engined car might provide a wonderful m.p.g. but wouldn

Can anyone help with these chemistry questions?

1. Calculate the mass of Na2CO310H2O in grams needed to prepare 200 cm3 of a solution which has a concentration of 0.25 mol dm-3.

2. Calculate the volume in cm3 of dilute sulphuric acid required to react completely with 15 cm3 of sodium hydroxide solution of concentration 3.5 mol dm-3. The concentration of dilute sulphuric acid used for the reaction is 1.5 mol dm-3.
Moles Na2CO310 H2O = 0.200 dm^3 x 0.25 mol/dm^3 = 0.0500

mass Na2CO3*10 H2O= 0.0500 x 286.19 g/mol=14.3 g

moles NaOH = 0.015 dm^3 x 3.5 mol/dm^3 = 0.0525

the balanced equation is

2 NaOH H2SO4 = Na2SO4 2 H2O

moles H2SO4 required = 0.0525/2=0.0263

Volume H2SO4 = 0.0263 mol/ 1.5 mol/dm^3 = 0.0175 dm^3 =

How to find the volume, new volume, and height of a cylinder?

A soup manufacturer wants to increase the volume of its container by 15% by increasing the height. The current container is a cylinder with a radius of 4 centimeters and a height of 8 centimeters. Find the (a) volume of the original container, (b) the volume of the new container, and (c) the height of the new container. Round the answers to the nearest hundredth, when necessary
the volume of a cylinder is: V= Pi * r^2 * h where r is radius and h is height

so original one: V1 = Pi * 16 * 8 = 401.92 cm^3

and increased one: V2 = 115% * V1 = 462.21

so V2= Pi* 16 * h2 = 462.21 so h2= 9.2
a) volume original= pi r^2 h = (8^2)*4 *pi

b) volume new= volume original + (volume original*15/100)

c) since radius is constant, volume original/volume new = height original/height new%0D%0A

Reciprocal Graph Question?

One method of graphing rational functions that are reciprocals of polynomial functions is to sketch the polynomial function and then plot the reciprocals of the y-coordinates of the key ordered pairs.

Use this technique to sketch y=1/f(x) for the function: f(x) = x^3

i dont understand what to do :s can someone explain this to me please
the domain has a restriction. x cannot equal zero (denominator becomes zero). this means your graph will have an asymptote at x = 0. You will plot several key points, connect these key points and run your graph approaching the asymptote.

When you sketch p(x) =x^3 you get these key points

x p(x)

-2, -8

-1, -1

0 , 0

1, 1

2, 8

Your instructions say to plot the reciprocal of the y-coordinate. The points then become

x, f(x)

-2, -1/8

-1, -1

0, 1/0 not allowed, so here is our asymptote

1, 1,

2, 1/8

Plot these main points connect the points on each half of the graph (asymptote divides graph in half)

run your curve towards the asymptote. The x-axis is a horizontal asymptote, so do not cross it. your curve will approach it from underneath on left.side, and approach it from above on the right side.

y = 1/ f(x) has the x-axis as a horizontal asymptote, because as x increases in value, f(x) increases in value, and 1/ f(x) will decrease in value approaching zero, but never equals zero.
Pick some values of x,

x=-1, then f(x)=-1, so 1/f(x) = -1

x=0, then f(x)=0, so 1/f(x) is undefined

x=1, then f(x)=1, so 1/f(x) = 1

x=2, then f(x)=8, so 1/f(x) = 1/8

etc.
The idea is to first sketch f(x) = x^3 by working out the y value for several x values. Then you work out the reciprocal of each y value and plot that at the same x value. Why you would go to all that bother I do not know. It is just as easy to work out 1/x^3 directly and then plot it.

What are the chances of having a red-haired baby?

Both my husband and I have red-haired people in our family (his sister, my brother, my great uncle). My older daughter has brown hair and my younger daughter has blonde hair. We all have light-colored eyes (either blue or green in my family.) What are the chances we will produce a red-haired child?
The coloring is due to mutations on a gene known as MC1R.

If both parents have the mutant version of the MC1R gene, then the probability is 25%.
Punnet squares, AWAY!
Since the gene is recessive on both sides, the chances are 1 in 4 of you having a red haired child.
100%. Red hair is a recessive trait, so you and your husband both have fully red-haired genes.
Red hair is passed through parents who carry the recessive gene. It can pop up if its in your family.
Punnet squares! is since math thing very simple that determines what are the possibility that your kid will have blue eyes or what ever, and for you those are very small becouse dont have red hair and your husband docent either,
If you both have at least one parent who is a red heads then you know that you both have the recessive gene and each child will have a 25% chance of being a red head. One of you do not have a red headed parent then while you had 25% chance of getting a recessive red head gene you also had a 25% chance of getting both dominant genes leaving your children with 0 chance of being a red head. In other words you don

No, because for all anyone knows right now life as an organic process could exist in the watery or eutectic melt mantle of a body quite distant from a star, perhaps heated by tidal forces from its primary, even a brown dwarf, or possibly in nebulae or protoplanetary discs, and this is in any case the life we know about - a single example. What causes dimples....................?

Just kind of never thought of it - and it just kind of struck me!
Dimple is a dominant trait that is genetically inherited. Anatomically, dimples are caused by the variation in facial muscle structure (zygomaticus major). Most people with dimples have dimples on both the cheeks. A single dimple on one side of the face is rarely seen. Dimples are caused due to short muscles. Babies have dimples, but they may disappear or become less noticeable as the muscles lengthen with aging.

Why do people have facial dimples? Some people have shortened muscles. These muscles pull the skin when someone smiles, creating a classic dimple. In most cases, dimples are not visible until someone smiles. The changes in the face due to a smile bring out the dimple. With aging, dimples may disappear, as facial muscles slowly stretch out.

Some people have a dimple on the chin. It is known as cleft chin. Similar to the cheek dimples, chin dimples too are inherited with a varying degree of prominence. In the case of the latter, the groove of the cleft chin is deep enough to reach the jawbone. A chin dimple results possibly from incomplete fusion between the right and left halves of the lower jaw during embryonic development.

BTW I love dimples..They are so cute

Will putting a wet cloth on a fan create a air cooling effect?

i heard that if you put a wet cloth on a fan it makes it sort of like an air conditioner
Yes, but for a very short time if I take your description literally.

What you describe is called here in the American South as a swamp cooler - not because it will work in a swamp but because it can make the house feel like one.

In an evaporative cooler, a woven fiber filter surrounds the intake of a blower and water is pumped to the top of the filter and drains down over the fiber. The air pulled through the filter and the large wet surface causes as much evaporation as possible, cooling the air, which is blown into the house.

This kind of cooler works best in a very dry atmosphere - like Phoenix Arizona. The higher the air humidity, the worse it works - less cooling and more humid output air. Very humid muggy air is what you find in a swamp.

A swamp cooler is typically a box 2-3 feet in each dimension with louvers on the outside and a wood fiber filter held against each of the three or four exposed sides The blower is mounted on the fourth side for units that hang in a window or in the bottom of roof mounted units. A small water line supplies water from mains which is controlled by a float valve in a small tank and a recirculating pump pushes the water from the tank to the top of the filters where it flows down over the filter and any excess flows back into the tank.

A cloth placed on or hooding a fan won

= (x-y) (y-yz z)/((y z)(y-yz z))

= (x-y)/(y z).

What is the role played by the cerebral cortex in voluntary movement?

The primary motor cortex is involved in the planning and execution of movements. It works in association with other cortical regions (such as the pre-motor areas, supplementary motor areas and the posterior parietal cortex) in addition to sub-cortical regions (like the thalamus and basal ganglia) and of course the cerebellum (which is particularly important for coordination and fine tuning complicated movements). The cortex recieves, and projects, a vast amount of information (about muscle movements, the external environment, balance, sensory, proprioception etc.) and it processes all of this in a very, VERY short space of time. It then sends signals to the appropriate body parts and produces voluntary movement. But it doesn

The density of ball bearings and oil?

Can someone calculate these densities because I always seem to get a wrong answer.

1) A ball bearing of radius 12.68mm and a mass of 66g

2) A ball bearing of radius 9.95mm and a mass of 27.97g

3) Oil of 200ml and a mass of 264g
density is just mass/volume

1) the volume of a sphere is 4/3 * Pi* r^3... convert 12.68mm to m: 0.01268m. 66g = 0.066kg

V = 4/3 * Pi* 0.01268^3

=8.535 * 10^-6 m^3

density = 0.066/8.535 * 10^-6

=7732.461 kg/m^3

2) same deal. remember to convert masses and volumes

V = 4.124 *10^-6

density = 0.02797/4.124 *10^-6

=6781.954 kg/m^3

3)here, the volume is in mL

200mL = 0.2L

otherwise everything is the same

density = 0.264/0.2

=1.32 kg/L

there are also 1000L per m^3

so it could also be 1320 kg/m^3
For sphere

Volume=4/3(p*r^3)

density=mass/volume

And ml is a unit of liquid.
A sphere has a volume of (4/3) (r^3)

You wish to have volumes in units of cm^3

1) v=(4/3)(3.1415)(1.268^3)

=8.54 cm^3

density = m/v = 66/8.54 = 7.73 g/(cm^3)

2) v=(4/3)(3.1415)(0.995^3)

=4.13 cm^3

density = m/v = 27.97/4.13 = 6.77 (g/cm^3)

3) 1 ml = 1 cm^3

density = m/v = 264/200 = 1.32 g/(cm^3)

Is it can be prove or disprove?

There exist positive integers m,n,where m,n and m n are all perfect squares?
some other possibilities:

m = 81 (9)

n = 144 (12)

m n = 225 (15)

m = 144 (12)

n = 256 (16)

m n = 400 (20)

m = 225 (15)

n = 400 (20)

m n = 625 (25)

In general: (3a), (4a), and (3a) (4a), where a = 1, 2, 3, ...
m=36(6^2)

n=64(8^2)

m n=100(10^2)
m=9

n=16

m n=25

Edit: Beaten to it. Both answers are correct.
